CLUB W REVIEW

Along with my love for whiskey, I also love wine. A friend of mine joined Club W a while back, and she had some free wine to give away with her membership, and she chose me. Yay!

She just had to send me the code, I chose my three bottles wine and paid $9 for shipping. Nine dollars for three bottles! So that in turn signed me up for my own membership, and she will receive credit for that on her account.

wineClub W is all about sustainability, too, which I really like, and they help eliminate the middle men of wine distribution. So overall I think they are a stand-up company.

Each bottle is typically about $17, but when you are a member, they’re $13. There is a three bottle order minimum, so on average you’re going to be spending about $40 per shipment. It’s definitely an easy way to stock up! The best part about this is you can delay your shipments however often you wish, in case you have too much wine to get through in time or just want to save some money that month. I don’t go through wine super quickly and I still have my white wine to try out, so I’ve delayed my shipment until April. But I can also change that to this month if I decide I want more. I love how easy it is to customize the membership.

I chose two red wines and one white wine for my first shipment, which is the typical trio for your boxes. However, you can easily change that in your account settings if you prefer a different combination.

I like that this is an opportunity to try wines that you’ve never tried before without the intimidation of picking it out at the store or a restaurant. Once you try each wine, you can rate it on your account and then the Club W experts can recommend certain wines to you based on what you like. Pretty awesome.

    A friend recommended this service, so I gave it a try. The wines were low quality with very simple flavor profiles and extremely short finishes. If you’re looking for something cheap that doesn’t taste bad, this is a good choice, but if you like wine, don’t bother.

    More annoying was that cancellation was difficult. They don’t have any way to cancel on the site, nor via email, nor by calling them unless you call during business hours in their time zone. I was also charged a cancellation fee, which I always consider to be the sign of a less reputable vendor.

      Thanks for the info, Anthony! That’s all good to know. I have been happy with my wines so far, but I do find it hard to keep up with drinking it all in time for the next shipment, so I usually end up skipping a month or two in between. I also just finished a wine class (I have a post about that, too), so I feel like my tastes will change/develop as time goes on. I appreciate your thoughts, and will definitely keep all of that in mind!
