‘Tis the season for hot, boozy drinks. I love a good hot cider, mulled wine or spiked coffee, but I’ve lately been itching to mess around with drink ingredients and come up with my own recipes. I have two problems with most ciders. One: they’re often too sweet. Two: they’re often not spicy enough. So after some experimenting, I came up with this option — a spicy cinnamon cider with a good dose of brandy.
2 bags of Hot Apple Cider Tea by The Republic of Tea
1 oz. White’s Elixirs Spicy Cinnamon Syrup
2 dashes bitters
2 oz. brandy
Brew two bags of the Hot Apple Cider Tea in 6 ounces of water. I used two of these tea bags because I wanted it to be super flavorful. Add the cinnamon syrup, bitters and brandy to the tea, and give it a quick little stir. Add the orange slice to the side of your mug, or just drop it right in.
Cozy up on the couch and enjoy!
After playing around with it, I think I’ve come up with a way to make cider less sweet, more boozy, and spicier! The White’s Elixirs come in awesome flavors, and this one is delicious. It adds just enough sweetness to this recipe without making you feel like you’ll have cavities after one cup. Plus, it warms you up!
